VFF leaders attended the UEFA women’s football development conference
From May 23 to May 26, 2024, the Vietnam Football Federation’s delegationn including Secretary General Duong Nghiep Khoi and Deputy Secretary General Nguyen Thanh Ha had a business trip to the city of Bilbao (Spain) at the invitation of the European Football Federation (UEFA), attended a women’s football development workshop organized by UEFA.
At the conference, the representative of VFF presented the development situation and actual conditions of Vietnamese women’s football in recent times.
Vietnamese Women’s Football is ranked 37th on the FIFA Rankings, 6th on the Asian Rankings and ranked first in Southeast Asia. With the achievements of women’s football in recent times, Vietnam has been selected as one of 5 federations with football development potential in Asia to receive support from UEFA within the framework UEFA-AFC strategic cooperation program. Federations also on this list include: Chinese Taipei, Lebanon, Thailand and Uzbekistan.
UEFA’s Support Program framework will focus on building a strategic plan for women’s football development of the national football federation, improving the standards of national teams, developing tournaments, training human resources, and developing national teams. Developing community football for female children… The project will last for three years from 2024 to 2027.
In the near future, UEFA will send experts to research about the actual conditions of Vietnamese football to have appropriate development directions. The VFF delegation also attended a seminar to share experiences from leading European football experts and attended the final match of the Asian Women’s Club Championship between Barcelona and Olympic Lyon, which took place at 4 p.m May 25 at San Mames Stadium, Bilbao.
