VFF’s leaders visit national U19 futsal player Doan Tuan Phong at Vinmec Hospital
On the afternoon of January 14, VFF Deputy General Secretary Nguyen Thanh Ha, together with representatives of the VFF’s functional departments, visited and encouraged goalkeeper Doan Tuan Phong of the Vietnam U19 futsal team. The player has recently undergone surgery for a knee ligament injury at Vinmec Smart City International General Hospital in Hanoi.
Doan Tuan Phong is one of the most promising young goalkeepers of Vietnamese futsal and was named Best Goalkeeper of the 2025 National U20 Futsal Championship while playing for Thai Son Bac U20 Club. At national team level, Tuan Phong was the first-choice goalkeeper of the Vietnam U19 futsal team at the 2025 ASEAN U19 Futsal Championship, which was held for the first time in Thailand in December 2025.
At this tournament, Tuan Phong unfortunately suffered an injury to the attachment of the knee cruciate ligament during the semifinal match against Indonesia U19 and was required to undergo surgery. According to the assessment of the medical team, the goalkeeper born in 2007 will need a minimum of six months to recover functional capacity before being able to return to training and competition.
On behalf of the VFF, Deputy General Secretary Nguyen Thanh Ha attentively inquired about Tuan Phong’s health, offered words of encouragement, and urged him to maintain strong determination, strictly adhere to the treatment protocol, and remain patient throughout the recovery process in order to return to the pitch as soon as possible. On this occasion, VFF leaders also expressed their gratitude to the Vinmec Healthcare System, especially its team of specialists and the Vinmec Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Center, for successfully performing the surgery on the Vietnam U19 futsal international.
Deputy General Secretary Nguyen Thanh Ha affirmed that the VFF always cares for and stands alongside its players, and will provide necessary guidance and support to ensure the best possible conditions for Doan Tuan Phong’s treatment and rehabilitation. He also expressed his hope that the young goalkeeper would stay optimistic, make a swift return to competition, and continue contributing to Vietnamese futsal.
Regarding injury treatment for futsal players, in August 2025, national futsal team goalkeeper Ho Van Y also underwent anterior cruciate ligament surgery on his right knee at Vinmec Hospital and is currently actively undergoing rehabilitation. This has demonstrated the effective partnership of the Vinmec sports healthcare system in the care and protection of the health of Vietnamese futsal players.
