VFF’s President visits and works with the Nghe An Provincial FA
On the afternoon of August 22, the working delegation of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), led by President Tran Quoc Tuan, paid a visit and held a working session with the Nghe An Provincial Football Association. Joining the delegation were Mr. Cao Ngoc Cam – Chief of the VFF Office, Mr. Luu Quang Dien Bien – Director of Grassroots, Coaching Education and Affiliated MAs, along with representatives from other functional departments.
On the side of the Nghe An Provincial Football Federation, participants included Mr. Tran Trung Tuyen – Standing Vice President, Mr. Nguyen Huu Phuong – Vice President, Head of the Sports Management Division under the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Le Giap – Vice President, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Nghia – Vice President, Mr. Vu Van Nam – General Secretary, along with representatives from functional committees.
At the working session, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Nghia, on behalf of the Nghe An Provincial Football Association, reported on the Association’s activities over nearly two years since its establishment under the decision of the Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee in September 2023 and the organization of its first Congress for the 2023–2028 term.
Although still young and with limited resources, the Nghe An Provincial Football Association has quickly established regular operations and organized a number of notable events such as the Nghe An 7-a-side Football Championship, the Nghe An U23 Tournament, charitable football competitions, and has accompanied Song Lam Nghe An Football Joint Stock Company in organizing and supporting matches at the V.League.
The Association has also cooperated with the Vietnam Football Federation to organize referee training courses, with Nghe An Newspaper to hold youth and children’s football tournaments, and expanded community football classes that have attracted large participation from local teenagers and young people.
Alongside the positive outcomes, the Association also candidly acknowledged challenges related to facilities, operational funding, and the level of professionalism in certain specialized committees. The headquarters, located at Stand B of Vinh Stadium, has deteriorated; financial resources rely mainly on socialized contributions, while many Executive Committee members work concurrently in other roles and have limited time to devote to regular activities.
Acknowledging the reports and discussions, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan highly appreciated the sense of responsibility and dynamism of the Nghe An Provincial Football Association. He emphasized that although it has been established for less than two years, the Federation has successfully laid an important foundation, bringing together members from various sectors such as state management, media, and enterprises, thereby contributing valuable resources and experience to local football development.
President Tran Quoc Tuan affirmed that for the remaining challenges, the Nghe An Football Association should feel confident in submitting proposals, as the VFF is always ready to provide support and companionship.
VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan also placed special emphasis on Nghe An’s strong tradition of youth development – the cradle of many generations of talents who have contributed to Vietnamese football. He highlighted that this is a crucial foundation for the province to further promote grassroots football and elevate professional football.
President Tran Quoc Tuan encouraged the Nghe An Football Association to boldly innovate in its mindset, seek new solutions, strengthen connections with the business community, and take advantage of support and attention from local authorities.
Notably, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan expressed his expectations for the development of women’s football in Nghe An. According to his assessment, this land of rich tradition not only stands out in men’s football but also holds great potential in women’s football.
“In the context of Vietnamese women’s football benefiting from the UEFA/AFC Women’s Football Development Project, the VFF wishes to establish a women’s football training ‘satellite’ in Nghe An, considering it a long-term strategy to develop the next generation of players. Promising talents will be selected and given long-term training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center – which has been and continues to be the source of many key players for the national women’s team and women’s clubs across the country,” shared President Tran Quoc Tuan.
The working session concluded in an open, candid, and constructive spirit. With the guidance and support of the VFF, along with the efforts of the Executive Committee and attention from local authorities, the Nghe An Football Association is expected to achieve strong growth and contribute to the overall development of Vietnamese football.
