Viet Nam wins first gold medals at Asian indoors

Viet Nam snatched two gold and three silver medals on the fifth day of the 2nd Asian Indoor Games in Macau .

Viet Nam snatched two gold and three silver medals on the fifth day of the 2nd Asian Indoor Games in Macau . 

Ngo Lan Huong defeated her Macau opponent to win a gold medal in the Chinese chess while Duong Anh Vu pocketed a gold medal in the Men”s One-Cushion Carom Singles of Billiard”s event. 

Three other silver medals were also in Chinese chess and Billiard-Snooker events. 

After winning 12 medals over the past five days of the competition, including 2 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze medals, Viet Nam jumped 6 places to 7 th on the medal table. 

Host China still led the event with 24 gold medals, followed by Thailand , Japan and the Republic of Korea . 

In football, the Vietnamese men”s team went down 0-2 to Japan . 

The Asian Indoor Games is a biennial competition held by the Olympic Council of Asia for its 45 National Olympic Committee members. It is designed to encourage young Asians to participate in a wider range of sports at the top level. 

The games opened in Macau on October 26
