In preparation for AIMAG 2026, scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia from 11 to 21 December, the Vietnam futsal team have assembled with a squad of 20 players. For this call-up, head coach Diego Giustozzi has given opportunities to several young players alongside experienced internationals.

In the goalkeeping position, alongside experienced players Ho Van Y and Pham Van Tu, head coach Diego Giustozzi has also called up Nguyen Quoc Giau and Doan Minh Quang. Born in 2009, Nguyen Van Giau has previously been included in the national team squad for several training camps. Meanwhile, Doan Minh Quang was recently named Best Goalkeeper at the 2026 Vietnam National Futsal Championship, playing a key role in helping Sahako FC finish third overall.

Other young players, including Huynh Van Hoai, Nguyen Trong Kien, Nguyen Hoang Quan, Bui Duc Quyen, Tran Le Bo and Nguyen Thac Hieu, also feature in the squad. These players have limited international experience with the national team.

The inclusion of several promising young players reflects the approach of head coach Diego Giustozzi and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to identifying and developing the next generation of talent. The aim is to build a squad with greater depth and the strength to compete for qualification for future editions of the FIFA Futsal World Cup.

The squad is also without several notable players. Captain Nguyen Manh Dung is unavailable due to a ligament injury sustained during the 2026 Vietnam National Futsal Championship. Ala player Dinh Cong Vien has also suffered a recurrence of his injury, prompting the coaching staff to call up Trieu Xuan Linh as his replacement.

The Vietnam futsal team are currently training at the Chanh Hung Ward Futsal Club Arena in Ho Chi Minh City. In early November, head coach Diego Giustozzi and his players are scheduled to undertake a training tour and play friendly matches in Kyrgyzstan and Russia to improve their competitive readiness.

The team will depart for Kyrgyzstan on 1 November and play two friendlies against the host nation’s futsal team on 3 and 5 November. On 6 November, the squad will travel to Russia for two further friendlies against the Russian futsal team on 8 and 10 November, before returning to Vietnam on 11 November.

Following the training tour, the players will return to their respective local teams to compete at the National Sports Games, scheduled to take place in Ho Chi Minh City from 20 to 29 November. They will then regroup to complete their preparations for AIMAG 2026.
