Vietnam futsal team goes to Thailand to train before the 2022 AFF Futsal Cup tournament
Before traveling for Thailand to train to complete the final preparation for the 2022 AFF Futsal Cup, head coach Pham Minh Giang made the decision to select 17 out of 22 players on the short list of Vietnam futsal team.
Accordingly, 5 players have to say goodbye to teammates at Vietnam futsal team including goalkeeper Pham Van Tu, ala Tu Minh Quang, Nguyen Anh Duy, pivo Nguyen Huynh Thanh Huy and Luong Thai Huy.
This afternoon, the team will take a flight departing from Tan Son Nhat (HCMC) at 16:45 to Bangkok (Thailand) to start a week-long training trip and then attend the AFF Futsal Cup equal to 2022 AFC Asian Futsal Championship Qualifier on March 30 (meet Hong Yen Takam), then the official list of 16 players will be closed.
At the 2022 AFF Futsal Cup, Vietnam Team is in Group B along with Australia, Myanmar and Timor Leste. According to the schedule, the opponents of Vietnam Team are Myanmar (April 4), Timor Leste (April 5) and Australia (April 6). The top 3 in the regional playground will win tickets to the Asian final round in Kuwait in September.
Head coach Pham Minh Giang commented: “I still don’t know about Australia, but they will definitely send a very strong team to attend. Myanmar has just played a friendly tournament in Thailand, so we have data on this opponent. They have Thai experts to help and make a lot of progress. I think we should be careful about Myanmar.”
Head coach Pham Minh Giang also added that, based on the density of competition at the 2022 AFF Futsal Cup, the coaching assistants also assembled heavy training content continuously in 3 sessions for the players to adapt to the intensity of the competition. “I think the students did well, and we have a 70-80% chance of competing for the Asian futsal finals,” said coach Pham Minh Giang.
