Vietnam U19 futsal to face Indonesia in the semifinals of the 2025 AFF U19 Futsal Championship

Following their defeat to Thailand U19 futsal on the evening of December 25, the Vietnam U19 futsal team finished second in Group A and will face Indonesia U19 futsal in the semifinals of the 2025 AFF U19 Futsal Championship.

In the decisive match for the top spot against Thailand U19 futsal, Vietnam U19 futsal started with great determination and took an early lead in the 2nd minute. Văn Thành capitalised on an error by the opponents, won possession, rounded goalkeeper Watcharin Kerdngoen and calmly finished to put the hosts behind. After the opening goal, Vietnam U19 futsal maintained a compact and disciplined defensive shape, frustrating Thailand’s attacking efforts, but were unable to extend their advantage in the first half.

In the second half, Thailand U19 futsal switched to a power-play tactic and quickly made the difference. Srithong scored the equaliser before goalkeeper Watcharin Kerdngoen pushed forward to fire home and make it 2–1 in the 23rd minute.

Vietnam U19 futsal created several notable chances to draw level, but efforts from Minh Vương and Minh Huy were unsuccessful. In the 35th minute, Vietnam U19 futsal found the net from a fast counter-attack, but the goal was disallowed, resulting in a controversial moment.

According to the schedule, the semifinals of the 2025 AFF U19 Futsal Championship will take place on December 27. Vietnam U19 futsal will face Indonesia U19 futsal at 16:00, while the other semifinal will see Thailand U19 futsal take on Malaysia U19 futsal at 19:00.
