Due to being underestimated, Coach Akira Higashiyama chose to deploy all 11 Indonesian women’s team players to defend the goal. The multi-layered defensive approach made it difficult for the Vietnam women’s team to approach the opponent’s goal. In the first 25 minutes, the ball mostly stayed within just over one-third of Indonesia’s half. Although Vietnam was completely dominant, during this period, the Vietnamese women’s team struggled to break through the opponent’s defensive system.

Despite the strong pressure from the Vietnam women’s team, Indonesia’s team also made mistakes. In the 28th minute, during a clearance of Hải Yến’s shot, Yumanda Gea used her hand in the penalty area, resulting in a penalty kick. Bích Thùy did not miss this opportunity to open the scoring for her team. Although Vietnam continued to dominate afterward, they couldn’t score additional goals to secure a comfortable lead. In fact, Vietnam almost conceded a goal in stoppage time of the first half when Indonesia launched a sharp counterattack; Imut broke through and shot, hitting the post.

Fortunately escaping a goal, Vietnam’s team continued to gain an advantage thanks to another stroke of luck at the start of the second half. During a goal kick, goalkeeper Joska’s shot hit Hải Yến and deflected into the net, giving Vietnam their second goal. At the 58th minute, during a corner kick, Hải Yến instinctively tapped the ball in to increase the score to 3-0 for her team.

With a significant lead and a comfortable margin ensuring victory, the Vietnamese women’s team played quite relaxed. Meanwhile, the Indonesian women’s team couldn’t push their lines forward due to limited capacity. Additionally, the Vạn Đảo team appeared to tire towards the end, making it very difficult to contest for the ball. In the 80th minute, Bích Thùy headed high after a corner kick from Trần Thùy Duyên, increasing the score to 4-0 for Vietnam. Five minutes later, Huỳnh Như skillfully shot the ball into the far corner, boosting the score to 5-0 for Coach Mai Đức Chung’s team.

With a commanding 5-0 victory, the Vietnamese women’s team has brilliantly secured their place in the final of SEA Games 33.
