This is the first step for Vietnamese football to develop stably and ensure the quality of football clubs across the country. In recent times, Vietnamese women’s football has achieved certain successes, continuing to affirm the leading position in ASEAN.”
“These successes are largely due to the contributions of the clubs. The success of the clubs will be an important part for the development of Vietnamese women’s football. Therefore, the development of professional-oriented women’s football clubs, getting closer to the continental arena is the content that is always interested and promoted by VFF. To achieve this target, clubs need to ensure the licensing criteria as specified in Appendix 5 of the AFC Club Licensing Regulations approved by the AFC Executive Board on January 25, 2021,” Mr. Le Van Thanh affirmed.
AFC representative, Mr. Mahajan Vasudevan Nair – Head of Club Licensing Unit Professional Football Department said that he is very pleased to have the opportunity to meet and share with clubs in Vietnam about orientation, goals and related issues to club licensing in general and women’s clubs in particular. “In 2025, the licensing criteria will be applied in all AFC competitions. From now, there will be about 2 years of preparation before the lisencing process begins in 2024. I hope that Vietnamese women’s football clubs will be able to participate in club tournaments organized by AFC. This is the best time and opportunity for women’s football clubs to develop and become more professional. The licensing criteria will be instrumental for the clubs to achieve that.”
In this seminar, AFC and VFF continued to disseminate the criteria and regulations for licensing women’s football clubs, as well as introduce and update the AFC’s online licensing system (CLAS) to clubs’ representatives.
Also, VFF conducted consultion with representatives of the clubs on the completion of each licensing criterion. Based on that, clubs can directly discuss and exchange licensing issues with experts from AFC and leaders of VFF.
