The 9th VFF Congress (term 2022 – 2026)
Pursuant to the VFF Statutes; approved by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnamese Sports Adminstration, based on Official Dispatch No. 5483/BNV-TCPCP dated November 2, 2022 of the Ministry of Home Affairs on the consent for the VFF to hold the 9th Congress (term 2022-2026); In order to evaluate the results of the 2018-2022 term and decide on the direction and targets in term 2022-2026, on the morning of November 6, 2022 at the Grand Plaza (Hanoi), VFF held the 9th Congress of the VFF (term of 2022-2026).
Attending the IX VFF Congress (Term 2022 – 2026), on the side of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, there were Mr. Nguyen Van Hung – Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, President of Vietnam Olympic Committee; Mr. Hoang Dao Cuong – Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Dang Ha Viet – Director of Vietnam Sports Adminstration.
On the side of ministries, branches and central government, there were Mr. Vu Hai Quang – Deputy General Director of VOV; Mrs. Thang Thi Hanh – Director of the Department of NGOs, Ministry of Home Affairs; Mr. Tran Van Manh – General Secretary of the Vietnam Olympic Committee.
On the side of former VFF leaders, there were Mr. Mai Liem Truc – Former President of VFF; Mr. Nguyen Trong Hy – Former President of VFF; Tran Duy Ly – Former Acting President of VFF.
On the side of international football organizations, the FIFA delegation included: Mr. Sanjeevan Balasingam, Director Member Associations Asia & Oceania; the AFC delegation includes: Ms. Nhodkeo Phawadee – Head of ASEAN Unit – Member Association Division; The AFF delegation was led by Mạjor General Khiev Sameth – AFF President.
On the side of the current VFF leadership, there are Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan – Acting President; Mr. Cao Van Chong – Vice Presidents; Mr. Le Van Thanh – Vice President; members of the Executive Committee, the Bureau of the Executive Committee; Chairpersons of functional committees, National Coach Council, Leaders of VFF member organizations, Broad of General Secretariat and press.
The Congress approved the Report on verification of the Delegates’ eligibility to attend the Congress; voted to suspend membership for the following member organizations: Kon Tum Provincial Football Federation, Than Quang Ninh Football Club, An Giang Football Club, Fico Tay Ninh Cement Football Club, Ca Mau Football Club, Ben Tre Football Club, Futsal Sanna Khanh Hoa Club; unanimously approved the list of the Presidium and the Secretariat of the Congress, the agenda of the 9th Congress of the Vietnam Football Federation for the term 2022-2026 and the Regulation on organization of the Congress as regulation.
Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan – VFF Acting President term 8th emphasized: “This is a very important event in the process of the continual implementation of plans to achieve the goals and tasks of Vietnam football in the new development period, especially the orientation and strategic vision for Vietnam football in the spirit of the 9th VFF Elective Congress (term 2022-2026), which is: “Joining hands for sustainable development of football“.
The term 8th of the VFF is considered to be a very successful term for Vietnamese football, with outstanding and historic achievements. That result has a very important contribution from the VFF’s member organizations and the partners. In order to recognize the achieved results, the Council of Emulation and Commendation of the 9th VFF Congress (term of 2022-2026) and the Bureau of the Executive Committee have agreed and proposed the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to award the Certificate of Merit from the Minister of of Culture, Sports and Tourism for the collectives, individuals and partners of the VFF with outstanding achievements in contributing to Vietnamese football in the 2018-2022 term. The Congress listened to the review report of the VFF 8th Executive Committee; the Summary of the tasks of the VFF term 8th and the direction of implementing the VFF term 9th; Report on the activities of the 8th VFF’s Inspection Committee; Report on key tasks and solutions of national teams in 2023; Report on the Plan to organize the 2023 Professional Football Tournament; Report on financial and sponsorship of VFF term 8th and financial plan term 9th; Report on amending and supplementing the VFF’s statute.
The congress listened to the speech of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung. “In the past time, although there are still many difficulties and challenges, with the spirit of solidarity and the motto “Right awareness to take good actions”, the Vietnamese sports industry has “questioned itself” to point out the shortcomings and limitations; create innovation in thinking, creativity in ways of doing, rhythmic cooperation with related sectors to gradually improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state management and initially achieve positive results. Most recently, the 31st SEA Games was successfully held in many ways, promoting the image of Vietnam to the region and the world. Those achievements have the important contribution of the Vietnam Football Federation for the 2018-2022 term with the “historic” achievements that I have memorized and stated in the Congratulate Letter to the Congress…
The success of the Vietnam Football Federation is thanks to the deep concern of the Government leaders, the support of the departments, ministries, branches, provinces/cities directly under the central government, of sponsors and the companionship of fans across the country. Together we must acknowledge and thank the fans. And especially, I highly appreciate the efforts of the Executive Committee and member organizations of the Vietnam Football Federation for the 2018-2022 term.
On this occasion, FIFA President Gianni Infantino and AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa have a congratulate video to the 9th VFF Congress (2022-2026). Attending the Congress, AFF President – Major General Khiev Sameth wished the best to the Congress and emphasized that AFF is grateful and proud of the contribution of Vietnamese football.
The Congress approved the Resolution of the 9th VFF Congress. On behalf of the Bureau of the Executive Committee, President Tran Quoc Tuan delivered the closing speech of the Congress.
