On the afternoon of August 15, at the headquarters of the VFF, a meeting was held to prepare the license for the club to participate in the V.League season 2023/2024.
Representatives of the VFF leaders attending the meeting were Mr. Tran Anh Tu – Vice President, Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi – General Secretary and Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha – Deputy General Secretary. The meeting was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Ngoc Vien – Chairman of Club License Committee; Mrs. Nguyen Thi My Dung – Deputy Chairman of Club License Committee; Mr. Nguyen Hai Huong – Deputy Chairman of Appeal Body, Mr. Nguyen Minh Ngoc – General Director of VPF with members of License Committee, Appeal Body and representatives of some VFF’s functional departments.
Speaking at the opening of the meeting, on behalf of the VFF, Vice President Tran Anh Tu emphasized: “The club licensing activities in 2023 are quite busy when there are 2 seasons of the 2023 and 2023/2024. The club has just been licensed to participate in the AFC club tournament season 23/24 ending on May 31; Immediately after that, in June 2023, the club continued to grant licenses for the club to participate in the 23/24 V.League, ending on August 31. It is expected that the licensing activity for the club to participate in the AFC club tournament and the 24/25 season will take place from October 2023 to May 2024. Thus, the time budget for licensing activities is quite urgent. Therefore, VFF always closely follows the progress of completing the club’s licensing criteria, during the transition period to change the season to ensure compliance with AFC’s licensing principles.
Accordingly, licensing activities for the club to participate in the 2023/24 V.League are carried out according to the policy approved by the Executive Committee, specifically:
– License for the V.League 2 to be promoted to compete in the V.League 1 in the 2023/24 season.
– Using the results of licensing for the club to participate in the 2023 V.League for the clubs that are considered for a license to participate in the 2023/2024 V.League;
– Re-evaluate clubs that have been granted exceptions, licenses with penalties, clubs that do not meet the financial and infrastructure criteria, and submit them to the Club License Committee for consideration and decision on licensing to participate in the 2023/2024 league season”.
Up to now, basically most of the clubs have completed 05 criteria for licensing to participate in the 23/24 national championship. Some clubs have not met the criteria, the VFF sent a reminder text to request completion before the date the License Committee decided to grant a license to participate in the 23/24 V.League, which is August 31, 2023.
Recently, the AFC Disciplinary Committee issued a decision to fine the Iran Football Federation 105,000 USD for licensing the club that did not meet the criteria to participate in the AFC C1 tournament. Therefore, the VFF always appreciates the coordination, compliance and completion of the licensing criteria of the clubs to help sustainably develop professional football clubs in particular and the professional football system of Vietnam in general.
