On the evening of August 6th, the signing ceremony for the 2024 Vietnamese Workers and Public Officials Football Tournament organization plan took place at the headquarters of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

The 2024 Vietnamese Workers and Public Officials Football Tournament is organized in collaboration by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), and Tuổi Trẻ newspaper.

The 2024 Vietnamese Workers and Public Officials Football Tournament (formerly known as the National Workers Football Tournament, first held in 2023) was established to promote sports activities, enhance the cultural and spiritual life of civil servants, public officials, and workers, and contribute to the overall well-being of society.

A True Playground for Workers and Public Officials

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Ngọ Duy Hiểu, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, stated: “The 2024 Vietnamese Workers and Public Officials Football Tournament is truly a playground for workers, civil servants, and public officials. This tournament helps improve health, foster solidarity, facilitate networking, and share experiences in production and labor, contributing to the broader grassroots sports movement.

To make this tournament possible, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor would like to express our gratitude to Tuổi Trẻ newspaper for proposing and directly managing the event. We also thank the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) for their dedicated and enthusiastic efforts in handling the tournament’s professional aspects.”

Mr. Ngọ Duy Hiểu mentioned that in its inaugural year, 2023, the tournament was a tremendous success, providing meaningful spiritual enrichment to the lives of workers. It can be affirmed that this is the most prestigious and practical football tournament for workers, civil servants, and public officials across the country.

On behalf of Tuổi Trẻ newspaper, Mr. Trần Xuân Toàn, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), and the General Department of Physical Education and Sports for their trust in allowing Tuổi Trẻ to organize this meaningful and humane tournament.

Mr. Trần Xuân Toàn stated: “In its inaugural year, we witnessed a range of emotions from workers, civil servants, and public officials on the football field. Football is not just about playing the game; this football tournament for workers and public officials is also about connecting workers, laborers, and trade unions across the country. Furthermore, through the 2024 Vietnamese Workers and Public Officials Football Tournament, businesses, industries, and various sectors have had opportunities to interact, connect, and network with one another.”

According to the organizers, this year’s tournament will expand its participants to include male civil servants, public officials, and workers who are Vietnamese citizens working in enterprises or organizations with trade unions, rather than being limited to just workers.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Trần Quốc Tuấn, President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), affirmed that they would work closely with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Tuổi Trẻ newspaper to ensure the accurate selection of tournament participants.

The VFF views the Vietnamese Workers and Public Officials Football Tournament as a meaningful and humane platform for workers across the country. Through football, it not only connects workers but also contributes to enhancing their spiritual well-being, increasing labor productivity, and making a tangible contribution to the economy. In its role as the technical support body for the tournament, the VFF’s team of experts and referees will work diligently to ensure the tournament’s success.

Ms. Lê Thị Hoàng Yến, Deputy Director of the General Department of Physical Education and Sports, affirmed that the 2024 Vietnamese Workers and Public Officials Football Tournament is a practical platform for workers across the country. She expressed gratitude to the organizing entities for creating such a wonderful playground for workers.
