The Vietnam U16 Women’s National Team gathers for training ahead of the 2025 AFF U16 Women’s Championship
On the morning of July 23, the Vietnam U16 Women’s National Team officially began their first training camp of 2025 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center (Hanoi), kicking off preparations for the 2025 AFF U16 Women’s Championship.
Speaking about the squad selection, head coach Okiyama Masahiko said: “We closely followed the recent National U16 Women’s Championship and identified several promising players to call up to the national team. These are talents with strong development potential, and we have high expectations for them.”
To ensure the best preparation for the upcoming regional tournament, the coaching staff has planned a series of friendly matches with suitable opponents. Coach Okiyama Masahiko emphasized that, with support from the assistants of both the U20 and U16 women’s teams, he is fully confident in managing the work plans for both squads during this period.
Regarding the goals for the 2025 AFF U16 Women’s Championship, the Japanese strategist shared: “We have three clear objectives: to give our all and aim for victory in every match, to improve the team’s technique, fitness, and tactics, and to help the players build pride through the experience of competing in international matches abroad.”
Commenting on the group stage draw for the 2025 AFF U16 Women’s Championship, head coach Okiyama Masahiko said: “We’re in the same group as Myanmar, a very strong opponent. That match will be crucial, and we’ll need to give our best to win. Cambodia has also made significant progress recently, so our goal is to advance from the group stage and go deep into the tournament.”
