Ho Chi Minh City Women’s FC to face North Korean representatives in the quarter-finals of the AFC Women’s Club Championship 2025/26
The draw for the knock-out stage of the AFC Women’s Club Championship 2025/26 has determined that Ho Chi Minh City Women’s FC will face Naegohyang Women’s FC in an away match in the DPR Korea in Quarter-final 3, to be played as a single-leg tie on March 28 or 29, 2026.
Besides defending champions Wuhan Jiangda Women (China) and reigning runners-up Melbourne City FC (Australia), this year’s knock-out stage features three clubs making their first appearance on the continental stage: Suwon FC Women (Korea Republic), Stallion Laguna FC (Philippines), and Naegohyang Women’s FC (DPR Korea). In addition, Tokyo Verdy Beleza (Japan) and PFC Nasaf (Uzbekistan) have also reached the knock-out stage of the competition for the first time in history. Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City Women’s FC continue to deliver impressive performances, reaffirming the status of Vietnamese women’s football on the Asian stage in their second year of participation.
The AFC applies a group-stage protection principle, meaning teams that competed in the same group will not face each other again in the quarter-finals. Furthermore, teams seeded in Pot 1 will host their quarter-final matches. The four quarter-final winners will advance to the centralized finals, where the semi-finals and final will be held from May 20 to May 23, 2026, to determine the champion.
The away trip to the DPR Korea is expected to be highly challenging, but it also presents an opportunity for Ho Chi Minh City Women’s FC to showcase their resilience and credentials on the continental stage.
