2026 National Second Division: Tre Ha Noi and Hue crowned joint champions, secure promotion

On the afternoon of June 13, the two semi-final matches of the 2026 National Second Division Finals were played at Quy Nhon Stadium in Gia Lai, determining the first two teams to earn promotion to the 2026/27 National First Division: Tre Ha Noi and Hue. With their victories in the semi-finals, both teams also secured joint-champion status in the 2026 National Second Division Championship. This outcome is in accordance with the competition regulations, under which the two semi-final winners are automatically promoted and recognized as joint winners of the tournament.

In the match kicking off at 16:00, Tre Ha Noi faced Truong Giang Gia Dinh in the battle for the first promotion spot. Despite being considered the stronger side, the young team from the capital found themselves trailing. In the 28th minute, Truong Giang Gia Dinh were awarded a penalty, and Thai Son calmly converted from the spot to give his side a 1-0 lead.

However, Tre Ha Noi did not take long to restore parity. In the fourth minute of first-half stoppage time (45+4’), Anh Tu delivered a free-kick from the right flank, and Dinh Thinh rose highest to power home a precise header, leveling the score at 1-1.

In the second half, Tre Ha Noi continued to dominate possession and control the flow of the game. Their superiority and clinical finishing enabled coach Pham Minh Duc’s side to add two more goals, with Anh Tu scoring in the 63rd minute and Tien Dat finding the net in the 84th minute, securing a convincing 3-1 victory. The result made Tre Ha Noi the first team to earn promotion to the 2026/27 National First Division.

In the other semi-final, which kicked off at 19:00, Hue faced Lam Dong in the battle for the second promotion spot. The team from the former imperial capital made a bright start and took the lead as early as the 7th minute through Lam Son.

Buoyed by the early breakthrough, Hue maintained the pressure and quickly extended their advantage. Huu Tuan starred with a brace in the 9th and 42nd minutes, helping the men in yellow head into halftime with a commanding 3-0 lead.

After the break, Hue adopted a more disciplined and compact approach to protect their advantage. Meanwhile, Lam Dong pushed more players forward and increased their attacking intensity in search of a way back into the match.

Although the Central Highlands side created several promising opportunities, they were unable to break through Hue’s well-organized defense. No further goals were scored in the second half, and the match ended with a convincing 3-0 victory for the team from the former imperial capital.

The result secured Hue’s promotion to the 2026/27 National First Division alongside Tre Ha Noi, while also earning the club joint-champion status in the 2026 National Second Division Championship.

This convincing victory sees Hue officially return to the National First Division after spending just one season in the Second Division.

As a result, following the opening two matches of the 2026 National Second Division Finals, Tre Ha Noi and Hue have become the first two teams to secure promotion to the 2026/27 National First Division. The remaining promotion berth will be decided in the play-off match between Truong Giang Gia Dinh and Lam Dong, scheduled to kick off at 16:00 on June 16 at Quy Nhon Stadium.
