VFF and KFA have signed a MoU on cooperation in the new phase
On April 28, 2026, in Vancouver, Canada, Vietnam Football Federation President Trần Quốc Tuấn and Korea Football Association President Chung Mong Gyu signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the new phase. The event took place on the eve of the 76th FIFA Congress, demonstrating their commitment to continue strengthening and expanding the cooperative relationship between the two football associations.
Witnessing the signing ceremony, the Vietnam Football Federation was represented by Vice President Trần Anh Tú and General Secretary Nguyễn Văn Phú. On the Korean side, the representatives included Vice President Lee Young Soo, General Secretary Hanjin Chun, and Head of International Relations Sung Ho Sin.
Previously, the first cooperation memorandum between the two federations was signed in 2018, which is regarded as a milestone in their bilateral relations. Through specific, comprehensive, and strategic cooperation programs, both sides have made positive impacts on the development of football in each country.
Building on the achieved results, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Korea Football Association (KFA) have agreed to continue implementing football development cooperation programs through a new memorandum with a duration of four years from the effective date, with an automatic renewal for an additional two years.
According to the terms of the agreement, both federations will strengthen support and coordination in regional and international football meetings and events; at the same time, they will promote sharing and exchange of human resources to serve football development. Based on each party’s plan and when conditions permit, coaches, referees, and football officials will have opportunities to participate in seminars, training courses, conferences, and tournaments organized in each country to improve professional skills and exchange knowledge.
The cooperation activities also include exchanging coaches, including trainer instructors working at youth football academies; appointing and exchanging football media and marketing experts to participate in tournaments and events; as well as exchanging referees and referee instructors. Both parties agree to facilitate elite-level referees and assistant referees from AFC and FIFA to officiate international friendly matches, and to collaborate in organizing advanced referee training and development courses in each country.
Additionally, the exchange of training programs and football team exchanges, including youth teams, women’s teams, futsal teams, and the national team, will continue to be emphasized. The two federations will support professional, logistical, and facility arrangements when teams hold training camps in each country, and will create conditions for friendly matches against quality opponents. Youth and women’s teams will also have more opportunities to participate in international friendly tournaments, exchange programs, and football festivals.
Regarding the organization and management of tournaments, both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation between the V-League and K-League by exchanging and sharing experiences in tournament operation and management, match organization, facility management, and sports medicine. Officials and staff from each federation will have opportunities to participate in training programs and professional seminars to enhance their skills and gain practical experience.
The signing of this new cooperation memorandum continues to affirm the strong partnership between the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Korea Football Association (KFA), while also opening up broader development opportunities for football in both countries in the upcoming period.
