At the start of the match, Coach Hoàng Văn Phúc fielded what was considered the strongest lineup, with goalkeeper Kim Thanh, defenders Cù Thị Huỳnh Như, Diễm My, and Thu Thương. Thanh Nhã played as a left-back, while Nguyễn Thị Hoa occupied the right wing. The midfield was controlled by Thái Thị Thảo and Thu Xuân. Ngân Thị Vạn Sự, Bích Thùy, and Hải Yến were positioned in the forward line.

In the early minutes, the Vietnam women’s team faced numerous difficulties against the tight marking and well-organized play of the Chinese Taipei women’s team. At the 16th minute, the opponents capitalized on a good situation to score the opening goal. After conceding, the Vietnam women’s team gradually regained control of the game. At the 27th minute, Coach Hoàng Văn Phúc made a personnel adjustment by bringing Dương Thị Vân on for Thái Thị Thảo to strengthen midfield control. This change helped the Vietnamese women’s team play more balanced and created additional attacking opportunities. Unfortunately, in the 36th minute, Thu Thương headed the ball onto the post. This was one of the notable moments for the Vietnam women’s team in the first half.

In the second half, Coach Hoàng Văn Phúc’s players proactively pushed up the field, actively pressing and coordinating more quickly. The Vietnam women’s team created better pressure on the opponent’s goal and maintained a positive fighting spirit. At the 72nd minute, Coach Hoàng Văn Phúc made further substitutions by bringing in Ngọc Minh Chuyên, Nguyễn Thị Trúc Hương, and Thu Phương to strengthen the attack. The Chinese Taipei women’s team then scored their second goal in the 82nd minute.

Refusing to give up, the Vietnam women’s team quickly responded. In the 85th minute, from a rapid counterattack, Thanh Nhã shot accurately, reducing the score to 1-2.

The goal boosted the confidence of the Vietnamese girls. In the final minutes, the Vietnam women’s team continuously applied pressure and created several dangerous opportunities. Unfortunately, Ngọc Minh Chuyên’s sprint and one-on-one with the goalkeeper during added time could not be converted into a goal.

Ultimately, the Vietnam women’s team lost to the Chinese Taipei women’s team with a score of 1-2. Although the result was not as desired in the opening match, the fighting spirit and efforts displayed in the second half are commendable. This provides additional motivation for the entire team to prepare for the remaining two matches in the group stage, against host Japan on September 17th and Thailand on September 21st.
