AFC/VFF Certificate coaching course – Module 1 for female coaches

The opening ceremony was attended by VFF General Secretary Nguyễn Văn Phú; VFF Deputy General Secretary Nguyễn Thanh Hà; VFF Technical Director Koshida Takeshi, who also serves as an instructor for the course; coach Lê Huỳnh Đức, an instructor; VFF Women’s Football Expert Okiyama Masahiko; representatives of relevant departments and units; and 22 participants.

Notably, this is the first B/AFC/VFF coaching course in Vietnam specifically designed for female coaches. The 22 participants are former national team players or are currently working at women’s football clubs and training centres across the country. They are expected to form a core coaching workforce contributing to the continued development of women’s football in Vietnam.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, VFF General Secretary Nguyễn Văn Phú emphasised that the course provides an opportunity for coaches working at women’s football clubs and training centres across the country to meet, exchange experiences and further develop their professional expertise in a spirit of openness and continuous learning. He also thanked the participants for taking part in the course and noted that the VFF had made thorough preparations and worked closely with FIFA, AFC and relevant partners to implement the programme.

According to General Secretary Nguyễn Văn Phú, women’s football has always been one of the areas that the VFF has placed particular emphasis on in terms of investment and development. Following the achievements already secured, the objective in the coming period is to further improve professional quality and pursue greater success at continental and global level. The course is regarded as an important step in the VFF’s coaching human resource development strategy, particularly at youth level. The VFF also plans to continue organising A-level courses for female coaches, creating further opportunities for them to enhance their professional qualifications.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, VFF Technical Director Koshida Takeshi expressed his delight that the course had received support from FIFA and attracted a strong turnout of participants, despite the ongoing 2026 National Women’s U16 Football Championship. He emphasised that improving the quality of the coaching workforce is particularly important for youth development and will help lay a strong foundation for the sustainable development of women’s football in Vietnam.

Meanwhile, coach Lê Huỳnh Đức said he was honoured to be invited to teach on the course. He expressed his desire to share his practical coaching experience while also looking forward to exchanging ideas and learning from the participants. According to coach Lê Huỳnh Đức, football is constantly evolving, making it essential for every coach to continuously update their knowledge.

On behalf of the participants, class representative Bùi Thị Hiền Lương expressed her gratitude to the VFF, FIFA, AFC and the instructors for facilitating the organisation of the course. She also pledged that all participants would strictly observe the course regulations and actively engage in learning and training to enhance their professional qualifications and meet the increasingly demanding requirements of coaching.

On the first day of the course, the instructors introduced key topics on the development orientation of Vietnamese football and the role of coaches in player development. In the afternoon, the participants took part in practical match analysis sessions using video footage.

Through the programme, the participants will further develop their knowledge, skills and modern coaching methodologies, contributing to improving the quality of training and the development of women’s football in Vietnam.
