VFF continues to conduct competency assessments for coaches applying to the AFC/VFF ‘A’ Coaching Certificate Course
Following the first assessment session for coaches from the southern region, held on May 26 and 27 at Phu Tho Training Ground in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) organized the second round of assessments on June 9 and 10, 2026, at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre in Hanoi.
The assessment attracted 21 coaches from football clubs and training centers across Northern Vietnam. Notably, Doan Thi Kim Chi, head coach of Ho Chi Minh City Women’s FC, was among the participants.
According to VFF Technical Director Koshida Takeshi, the assessment was designed with a high level of technical and tactical requirements, equivalent to the entry standards of a Professional Coaching Licence (PRO) course. The objective is to ensure the quality of candidates enrolling in the AFC/VFF ‘A’ Coaching Certificate Course. The assessment also serves as a benchmark for applicants to better prepare their knowledge and competencies, while contributing to the overall improvement of the coaching workforce, thereby laying a solid foundation for the sustainable development of Vietnamese football.
The assessment was overseen by Takeshi Koshida and Le Huynh Duc, a member of the National Coaches Council and VFF instructor. The practical sessions received valuable support from U17 players of the PVF Football Training Centre and Viettel FC.
Despite rainy conditions in Hanoi over the two-day period, the programme proceeded as scheduled, maintaining an intensive working agenda from morning until late afternoon. All candidates and supporting players successfully completed the assessment activities without any injuries.
In addition, the assessment provided an opportunity for many coaches who had previously attended AFC/VFF ‘A’ coaching courses at PVF, Viettel, and other institutions to observe the sessions and exchange professional knowledge and coaching experiences.
