The Group B and Group C matches of the 2026 National U17 Championship Finals – Cup Rong Do 2026 got underway in Gia Lai on the afternoon of July 17, delivering four entertaining encounters. Hanoi recorded the biggest win of the day, while Ho Chi Minh City Football Club claimed all three points against Song Lam Nghe An. In the early match at Ham Rong 4 Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City Football Club defeated Song Lam Nghe An 2-0. In the 23rd minute, Đậu Quang Hưng was brought down inside the penalty area by a Song Lam Nghe An defender, prompting the referee to immediately award a penalty to the southern side. From the spot, Nguyễn Lê Quang Khải calmly converted to give his team the lead.

The advantage was doubled in the 34th minute when, following a goalmouth scramble, Đậu Quang Hưng reacted quickest to fire home from a tight angle. After the break, Song Lam Nghe An pushed forward in search of a comeback and created at least three clear-cut chances. However, Ho Chi Minh City Football Club’s defence remained well-organised, producing several crucial goal-line clearances to preserve a clean sheet and secure a 2-0 victory.

Meanwhile, at Ham Rong 5 Stadium, Hanoi could hardly have wished for a better start, cruising to an emphatic 8-0 victory over Lam Dong. Trần Hải Dương opened the scoring in the 23rd minute before Trần Hoàng Việt doubled the lead just four minutes later. Chu Ngọc Nguyễn Lực struck twice (42′, 85′), while Võ Đức Đạt (45′), Trần Mạnh Quân (54′), Nguyễn Khắc Minh Đức (72′) and Bùi Phi Hùng (90′) also found the net to complete the dominant win for the capital side.

Lam Dong were reduced to 10 men in the 51st minute after Dương Nguyễn Viên Phát was shown a straight red card. Hanoi also finished the match with 10 players, as Nguyễn Hữu Trường was sent off in the 79th minute.

In the two matches kicking off at 3:30 p.m., the biggest upset came at Ham Rong 4 Stadium, where Dong Nai stunned tournament favourites PVF-CAND with a 1-0 victory. In a tightly contested encounter that appeared destined to end in a draw, Nguyễn Hoàng Công Anh emerged as the hero, scoring the decisive goal in the 90th minute to secure all three points for Dong Nai.

At Ham Rong 5 Stadium, Hue also enjoyed a winning start, edging Dong Thap 1-0. The only goal of the match came in the 83rd minute, when Nguyễn Viết Tài found the net to earn the Central side a valuable three points in their opening fixture.
