U15 Vietnam finish 82nd at FIFA U15 World Cup & Festival 2026

Vietnam U15 concluded their campaign at the FIFA U15 World Cup & Festival 2026 in 82nd place overall following a 3-2 defeat to Hungary U15 in their final match for 81st place. Although they were unable to secure victory, the young Vietnamese players showed great determination despite injury problems that left them with only nine players eligible to take the field.

Facing a technically skilled and physically strong Hungary U15 side, Vietnam U15 fell behind after conceding twice in the first half. In the 12th minute, Hungary’s number 2 fired a shot from outside the penalty area to open the scoring. Eight minutes later, the European side’s number 7 capitalised on a quick counter-attack, taking two consecutive shots to make it 2-0.

After the break, Vietnam U15 pushed forward in search of scoring opportunities. In the 32nd minute, following a scramble inside the penalty area, Tran Huy Huynh reacted quickly to fire a diagonal shot and pull one back for Vietnam.

However, Hungary U15 restored their two-goal advantage in the 38th minute following a counter-attack, with their number 13 finishing from close range. Vietnam U15 refused to give up and responded immediately. In the 39th minute, receiving a long pass from Khac Hieu, Xuan Vinh showed good technique on the right flank before curling a left-footed shot into the top corner to make it 2-3.

Vietnam continued to push for an equaliser in the remaining minutes but were unable to change the result. The match ended in a 3-2 victory for Hungary U15, leaving Vietnam U15 in 82nd place overall.

Looking back on their campaign in Azerbaijan, Vietnam U15 played 10 matches in six days, scoring 33 goals and gaining valuable experience against opponents from a range of footballing backgrounds. The tournament provided an important international learning opportunity, allowing the young players to gain experience, build resilience and improve their ability to adapt to high-intensity competition.

Vietnam U15 will return home on 31 October, bringing their FIFA U15 World Cup & Festival 2026 campaign to a close with valuable lessons and experiences to support their development in the future.
