Excited for the AFC Women’s Football Festival 2025
On the afternoon of March 7, 2025, at the Son La Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center, the Vietnam Football Federation, in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Son La Province and the Son La Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center, organized the AFC Women’s Football Festival 2025.
The event was attended by Mr. Nguyễn Văn Phú – General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation; Mr. Lưu Quang Điện Biên – Director of the Grassroots, Coaching Education, and Affiliated MAs VFF’s Department; Mr. Đỗ Thế Công – Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Son La Province; Mr. Điêu Chính Quý – President of the Son La Football Federation; Mr. Hồ Minh Sơn – Director of the Son La Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center, along with coaching staff members and 100 young female players from the U11-12, U14, U16, and U19 Son La teams.
In his speech at the AFC Women’s Football Festival 2025, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Phú – General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation emphasized that this is a special event that not only honors women’s football but also affirms that football is for everyone, regardless of region, ethnicity, or background.
For many years, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) – an active member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) – has always been dedicated to supporting and creating opportunities for the development of women’s football in Vietnam through various programs. One of these initiatives is the AFC Women’s Football Festival, which continues to be held in March, coinciding with International Women’s Day on March 8th.
After events in recent years in Hanoi and Ha Nam, this year, the AFC Women’s Football Festival is held in Son La, a region rich in tradition, with strong and resilient people who are always passionate and dedicated to their pursuits.
During the event, the female players participated in a series of activities that not only provided them with opportunities to enhance their skills but also encouraged confidence, teamwork, and a strong will to overcome challenges in life.
At the AFC Women’s Football Festival 2025, representatives from the Vietnam Football Federation, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Son La, and the Sports Training and Competition Center presented 20 footballs, 100 sets of clothing, and training equipment to the representatives of the youth teams from Son La Province.
Mr. Nguyễn Văn Phú – General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation emphasized: “You are the pride of your homeland, shining examples of effort and the desire to rise above challenges. Football not only helps develop physical strength but also teaches us unity, discipline, and the will to overcome difficulties and obstacles. The Vietnam Football Federation believes that through this program, you will have the opportunity to interact, learn, and develop your football skills, while also proving that young female players can conquer the field, pursue their dreams, and shine. By continuing to nurture your love for football, you will become the prominent faces representing Vietnamese women’s football in the future.”
On the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8th, the leadership of the Vietnam Football Federation wished the female players continued enthusiasm, diligent training, and even greater success, contributing to the advancement of women’s football in Vietnam.
