Closing Ceremony of the AFC Level 1B Fitness Coach Course
On the afternoon of 10 August, at the National Sports Training Center No. 3 in Da Nang City, the AFC Level 1B Fitness Coach Course officially concluded after five days of learning and practical training.

The course was organized by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), with instruction provided by Dr. Yasumatsu Mikinobu, AFC/JFA instructor, and Mr. Kanno Atsushi, MA, AFC/JFA instructor. The closing ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Tuan Sinh, Director of the National Sports Training Center No. 3, representatives of the host venue, and the participating coaches.
Throughout the course, the coaches were equipped with knowledge of sports science and fitness training methods, while also developing training plans and taking part in practical sessions on the football pitch and in the gym. The participants also completed a 20-question multiple-choice theory test and a practical assessment in accordance with the course requirements.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Dr. Yasumatsu Mikinobu highly appreciated VFF’s organization of the course and the facilities provided by the National Sports Training Center No. 3. He also commended the participants for their commitment and efforts throughout the course, expressing his confidence that they would make positive contributions to the future development of Vietnamese football.
For his part, AFC/JFA instructor Kanno Atsushi emphasized that physical conditioning should be given attention from the youth level, with nutrition, muscle development, strength and injury prevention being key factors. Experience from Japan shows that systematic investment in players’ physical development from the U13, U14 and U15 age groups can provide a solid foundation for them to develop and compete at a high level in the future. Mr. Kanno Atsushi also encouraged coaches to prioritize their own health and recovery in order to maintain energy levels and meet the demands of their work.
Representing the participants, coach Nguyen Thanh Hai of The Cong Viettel FC, the class vice-representative, expressed his appreciation to the National Sports Training Center No. 3 for providing favorable facilities and organizational support. He also expressed his hope that more professional training courses would continue to be held at the venue in the future.
The AFC Level 1B Fitness Coach Course was the second phase, following the AFC Level 1A Fitness Coach Course held from 12 to 16 August 2025 in Ba Ria, Ho Chi Minh City. Immediately after the Level 1B course, the AFC Level 2B Fitness Coach Course will be held in Da Nang from 12 to 18 August 2026. Organizing the two courses consecutively facilitates the use of facilities, travel and logistical arrangements, while also demonstrating the commitment and enthusiasm of the Japanese instructors to fitness coach education and development in Vietnam.
