In the first semifinal held on the evening of May 23, Thái Nguyên T&T and Hà Nội I approached the match with a cautious and tightly contested game plan. The team from the tea-growing region enjoyed more possession, while Hà Nội I focused on maintaining defensive solidity, particularly in the absence of several key players due to injury.
During the first half, both sides managed to create opportunities near the opponent’s goal but lacked the sharpness needed to convert them into goals. The evenly matched contest continued in the second half, with intense battles taking place in midfield. Despite pushing forward in search of the opening goal, neither Thái Nguyên T&T nor Hà Nội I was able to make the most of their chances.
After a goalless draw in regular time, the two teams went to a penalty shootout to decide the winner. There, goalkeeper Vân Liên emerged as Hà Nội I’s standout performer with two crucial saves, helping the capital side secure a 4-2 victory.
With this result, Hà Nội I will face TP.HCM in the final of the 2026 National Women’s Cup, scheduled to take place at 19:00 on May 27 at Thái Nguyên Stadium. Earlier the same day, the third-place playoff between Thái Nguyên T&T and Phong Phú Hà Nam will kick off at 16:00.
