Women’s National Cup 2026 : Ho Chi Minh City Women’s FC and Thai Nguyen T&T Women’s FC claim opening victories
Ho Chi Minh City Women’s FC and Thai Nguyen T&T Women’s FC enjoyed positive starts by collecting all three points on the opening day of the Women’s National Cup 2026.
In the early Group B match, the clash between Ho Chi Minh City Women’s FC and Hanoi I Women’s FC lived up to expectations as both sides are considered strong title contenders. With a squad featuring many experienced players, Ho Chi Minh City enjoyed greater control for most of the match.
In the 26th minute, the southern side were awarded a penalty after Tran Thi Thu Xuan was fouled inside the box. From the spot, Joelma calmly converted to give Ho Chi Minh City Women’s FC a 1-0 lead. The goal made the match more lively, but no further goals were scored before halftime.
In the second half, Ho Chi Minh City Women’s FC continued to apply pressure and quickly doubled their advantage. In the 52nd minute, following a well-worked move down the flank, Huynh Nhu arrived to fire home powerfully and make it 2-0.
However, Hanoi I Women’s FC refused to give up and pulled one back in the 72nd minute after being awarded a penalty. Hai Yen converted successfully to reduce the deficit to 1-2. In the remaining minutes, Hanoi I pushed hard for an equaliser but were unable to break through Ho Chi Minh City’s solid defence. In the end, Ho Chi Minh City secured a 2-1 victory.
Meanwhile, in the other match, hosts Thai Nguyen T&T Women’s FC delivered an impressive performance with a convincing victory over Hanoi II Women’s FC.
As early as the 8th minute, Thuy Hang opened the scoring for the hosts after skilfully rounding the goalkeeper before finishing into an empty net. In the 42nd minute, Bich Thuy doubled the lead with a fine strike following an assist from Thuy Hang herself.
After the break, Thai Nguyen T&T Women’s FC continued to dominate and added six more goals to seal an emphatic 8-0 victory. Foreign player Rebecca Luke also made an important contribution, helping the Tea Land side enjoy a perfect start to this year’s tournament.
