Opening the National U9 Football Championship – TOYOTA CUP 2023
On the afternoon of August 12, at the Bac Ninh Provincial Gymnasium, the opening ceremony of the National U9 football championship – Toyota Cup 2023 took place.

The National U9 football championship – Toyota Cup 2023 will take place from August 12 to 22 at the Bac Ninh Provincial Gymnasium. The tournament was jointly organized by the Vietnam Football Federation, the Young Pioneers and Children’s Newspapers, the Bac Ninh Provincial Youth Union. Participating in the tournament were 16 teams: Phu Tho, Bac Ninh, T&T Bac Giang, Kelme Quang Ninh, HYS Hanoi, Hanoi Club, Hai Phong, Viet Hung Thanh Hoa, Song Lam Nghe An, Dak Nong, Kon Tum, Binh Phuoc, PSFC Gia Lai, Luxcom Ngoc Hung, Thuan An Binh Duong, Van Tam Dong Nai. The teams are divided into 4 groups, competed according to the format, selecting the two teams with the best results in each group to compete in the quarterfinals. The winners of the Quarterfinals will compete in the Semi-Finals and select the two semi-final winners to compete in the Finals. The Organizing Committee will award collective and individual prizes to teams and athletes with outstanding achievements. Toyota Motor Vietnam is the main sponsor of the tournament.
Speaking at the opening of the tournament, journalist Nguyen Phan Khue, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong and Children’s Newspapers, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, thanked Bac Ninh province for paying attention and creating all conditions for organizing the prize, emphasizing: As the organizer of the youth football tournament for many years, the Young Pioneers and Children’s Newspaper has high expectations for this year’s U9 tournament. In addition to creating a playground for the children to exercise, through the tournament, the Organizing Committee will find good players, players with playing qualities to foster training to become professional players in the future. This is also an opportunity for players, coaches, delegations … to have the opportunity to learn from young and professional football models that contribute to the development of Vietnam football.
At the opening ceremony, the Vietnam Football Federation awarded a certificate of merit to Toyota Motor Vietnam for many contributions to the development of Vietnam youth football.
Right after the opening ceremony, there was a match between U9 Bac Ninh and T&T Bac Giang team. With the enthusiastic cheers of the home audience, right after the opening whistle, the Bac Ninh players rushed to attack and pressed the opponent. With great confidence and determination, the Bac Ninh players calmed down every opponent’s way to the ball, and at the same time deployed sharp situations on the ball. In the first half, U9 Bac Ninh led T&T Bac Giang with 2 goals difference.
Continuing the excitement, in the first minutes of the second half, the Bac Ninh players continued to have one more goal to take the lead 3-0. It was not until the last minutes of the match, when the Bac Ninh team retreated deep to the home field. In order to preserve the score, the new T&T Bac Giang team has more situations where the ball is close to the goal of the Bac Ninh team.
After many missed situations, it was not until the last minutes of the second half that the Bac Giang players scored the goal to reduce the score to 1-3. However, this was also the last effort of the entire T&T Bac Giang.
At the end of the match, Bac Ninh team defeated T&T Bac Giang team with a score of 3-1. Before the opening ceremony, the first 5 matches in groups C and D also took place. The next matches of the tournament continued held at the Gymnasium until the end of August 22. The organizers are open for the audience to watch and cheer.
