Vietnam Women’s team has the first victory in ASIAD 19
Vietnam beat Nepal 2-0 in the first match in the 19th Asian Games (ASIAD) women’s football on September 22 in Wenzhou, China.
With a better-rated force, the Vietnam women’s team proactively attacked from the moment the ball rolled. The team completely controlled the match. However, Nepal played with a defended squad. This causes the Vietnam women’s team to appear deadlocked in the attack deployment stage. The absence of two important stars in attack, Huynh Nhu and Thanh Nha, greatly affects the strength of the Vietnam women’s team. Even after 2/3 of the first half, the Vietnam women’s team just started to have the first notable opportunity of the match.
In the 31st minute, Hai Yen had a chance to open the score after a mixed situation in Nepal’s penalty area. However, the striker’s shot sent the ball over the crossbar at close range.
A real match without many notable highlights for the Vietnam women’s team. This forced coach Mai Duc Chung to make adjustments right after the break. In the second half, he sent Thanh Nha and Van Su into the field for improvements in the offensive deployments.
In fact, the appearance of this duo quickly helped the Vietnam women’s team play better. The team’s attack arrangements were also more diverse in the first half. After tireless efforts, the Vietnam women’s team finally found a goal to break the deadlock. In the 53rd minute, from a quick counterattack, Bich Thuy fired a shot outside the penalty area, forcing the Nepalese goalkeeper to push the ball to save. However, Hai Yen was there in time to kick the ball into the opponent’s net, opening the score 1-0 for the Vietnamese women’s team.
The goal that broke the deadlock lifted the spirit of the Vietnam women’s team. Coach Mai Duc Chung’s team plays better and better. In the 64th minute, starting from an attack on the left wing, Duong Thi Van passed the ball into the penalty area so Bich Thuy chose a wise position to head into Nepal’s net, increasing the score to 2-0 for the Vietnam women’s team.
After gaining a gap of 2 goals, the Vietnam women’s team still did not want to stop. Hai Yen and her teammates still pushed the attacking team high to find more goals. However, in the remaining minutes, Nepal played hard, preserving the net and not losing any more. The Vietnam women’s team ended the match with a 2-0 victory over Nepal.
With 3 points, the Vietnam women’s team has more confidence before the encounter with Bangladesh in a few days.
