The 2024 National U19 Championship has a record number of teams participating in the qualifying round
The drawing ceremony for the 2024 National U19 Football Championship qualifying round took place on the morning of December 20 at the Vietnam Football Federation Headquarters with the participation of representatives of the Vietnam Football Federation, representatives of the tournament organizers and representatives of the football teams. The first youth football tournament of 2024 recorded a number with a total of 35 teams registered to participate in the qualifying round.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Minh Chau – Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation, co-chairman of the tournament organizers, said that this is an unprecedented number in the tournament’s history. This promises to create a vibrant and attractive atmosphere for the big festival of national U19 football. This encouraging number also proves that youth football in the country is growing, not only in professional football clubs but even teams in the non-professional competition system have seriously invested in their next generation of players.
The 35 teams participating in the qualifying round are divided into 7 groups, specifically as follows:
– Group A (hosted by Viettel Sports Center), includes 05 Teams: Hanoi, PVF-CAND, Nam Dinh, Dao Ha Football Center and Viettel The Cong.
– Group B (hosted by PVF Youth Football Training Center), includes 05 Teams: CAHN, Dong A Thanh Hoa, Hong Linh Ha Tinh, Luxury Ha Long and PVF.
– Group C (hosted by Hue Football Association) includes 05 Teams: Quang Nam, SHB Da Nang, Song Lam Nghe An, Song Tra Quang Ngai and Hue.
– Group D (hosted by Hoang Anh Gia Lai Sports Joint Stock Company) includes 05 Teams: Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Gama Vinh Phuc, Kon Tum and LPBank Hoang Anh Gia Lai.
– Group E (hosted by Binh Phuoc Sports Training and Competition Center) includes 05 Teams: Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Phu Yen, Tay Ninh and Binh Phuoc.
– Group F (By Ba Ria Vung Tau Football Joint Stock Company) includes 05 Teams: Becamex Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Long An, Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria Vung Tau.
– Group G (hosted by Tien Giang Sports Training and Competition Center) includes 05 Teams: An Giang, Can Tho, Dong Thap, Vinh Long and Tien Giang.
Teams will compete in a two-round (round-robin) at the host locality to calculate ranking points in each Group. The 07 teams ranked First, 04 Teams ranked Second with the best results in 07 Groups will advance to the finals along with the home team being given a special direct entry. In case the home team of the Finals finishes competing in the Qualifying Round with a position in the group of 11 teams with the best performance in the 07 Groups mentioned above, the second-ranked team with the next best performance will win the right to attend the Finals.
According to the plan, the first leg of the qualifying round will take place from January 7 to January 17, 2024, the second leg will take place from January 19 to January 29, 2024. The final round will be held from February 21 to March 5, 2024.
