The opening of the National U16 Women’s Football Championship 2024
On the afternoon of June 27th, the opening ceremony and the inaugural match of the National U16 Women’s Football Championship 2024 took place at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center.
Attending the ceremony were Mrs. Le Thi Hoang Yen – Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports Adminstration; Mr. Đỗ Văn Nhật – Chairman of the VFF’s Women’s Football Committee; Mr. Dương Nghiệp Khôi – General Secretary of VFF; Mrs. Nguyễn Thanh Hà – Deputy General Secretary of VFF and Chairperson of the organizing committee; Mr. Trương Hải Tùng – Director of the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center; Mr. Hoàng Anh Tuấn – Member of the Referee Committee, VFF; Mr. Koshida Takeshi – Technical Director, VFF; Mr. Akira Ijiri – Expert in youth women’s football, VFF, Head Coach of the U17 and U20 women’s teams of Vietnam, along with fans and various media agencies.
In her speech at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyễn Thanh Hà, Deputy General Secretary of VFF and Chairperson of the organizing committee, stated: “Today marks the official start of the National U16 Women’s Football Championship 2024 . With our efforts in organization and the focused development of participating teams, the championship has gradually affirmed its importance within the National Youth Women’s Football system, enhancing quality and dedication. It provides a platform for young players to train, accumulate experience, and for coaches to scout talent for the national youth teams participating in regional and continental tournaments.”
This year, the tournament features the participation of 5 teams, an increase of 1 team compared to last season. The teams include: Phong Phú Hà Nam, Hà Nội, TP. Hồ Chí Minh, Thái Nguyên T&T, and Than Khoáng Sản Việt Nam. The teams will compete in a round-robin format with 2 legs, and points will determine their rankings. Each match will consist of 70 minutes, divided into two halves of 35 minutes each, excluding stoppage time.
The opportunity to compete for the championship title is evenly distributed among all participating teams. In women’s football, the difference in skill level between teams is not significant. Many matches are exciting, dramatic, and attract attention from fans.
The opening match took place at 4:30 PM on June 27th between Phong Phú Hà Nam and Than Khoáng Sản Việt Nam. Meanwhile, at the same time on Field 1 of the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, the U16 teams from Hà Nội and Thái Nguyên T&T competed against each other.
