On the afternoon of August 12th, the Opening Ceremony of the National U9 Football Championship – Toyota Cup 2024 took place at the Gia Lai Provincial Gymnasium, in a lively and festive atmosphere.

In his opening speech for the National U9 Football Championship – Toyota Cup 2024, writer and journalist Nguyễn Phan Khuê stated: “With over 28 years of experience organizing national youth and children’s football tournaments, the Youth Newspaper (TNTP&NĐ) is honored to co-host the U9 National Championship with the Vietnam Football Federation this year. This tournament, for the youngest age group and part of the Vietnam Football Federation’s competition system, provides an opportunity for players to meet, enhance their football skills, and enjoy the sport they love. It is also a wonderful summer gift for the children. We, the Organizing Committee, always hope and have high expectations for the players present here today. You are promising talents for the future development of our national football. In fact, many players discovered and shining from this platform have become key members of national teams across various age groups. We believe that you will continue the legacy of your predecessors.”
Mrs. Hoàng Thị Như Quỳnh, Head of Administration and Social Responsibility at Toyota Vietnam, the main sponsor of the tournament, stated: “Recognizing the importance of scouting, training, and nurturing young football talent, Toyota Vietnam is honored to be the main sponsor for four consecutive years since the tournament’s inception and its official recognition by the Vietnam Football Federation. We believe that this tournament will be meaningful, providing U9 football talents with the opportunity to compete and develop on their path to professional football.”
During the ceremony, the teams were presented with flowers and commemorative flags from the Organizing Committee. At the same time, the referees and player representatives took an oath to participate in the tournament with integrity, fairness, and to provide the audience with matches of high technical quality.
The National U9 Football Championship – Toyota Cup 2024, organized by the Vietnam Football Federation in collaboration with the Youth Newspaper and the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Gia Lai Province, will be held in Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province from August 10 to 26. The tournament will feature 28 teams divided into 7 groups as follows: Phú Thọ, Tuyên Quang, Bắc Ninh, Hanoi FC, Hanoi Police, H.Y.S Hanoi, Luxury H.L Quảng Ninh, Gia Bảo Hải Dương, Hưng Yên, Việt Hùng Thanh Hóa, Sông Lam Nghệ An, T&T VSH, Quảng Trị, SHB Đà Nẵng, Thuận An Bình Dương, AP-SKILL Khánh Hòa, Khuyến Nông Bình Phước, Gia Lai, Đắk Nông, Kon Tum, Ho Chi Minh City, Gocobay Ngọc Hùng, Văn Tâm Đồng Nai, Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu, Bình Định, Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation, PSFC Gia Lai, and Thọ Lộc Kon Tum.
After the Opening Ceremony, an exciting match took place between the host team U9 Gia Lai and U9 Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation. The U9 Gia Lai players demonstrated their absolute superiority in both technical skills and tactics, continuously pressing the U9 Ho Chi Minh City team back into their own half.
In the final result, the host team U9 Gia Lai secured a convincing victory with a score of 7-0 against U9 Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation.
