Draw for the 2025 AFC Women’s Futsal Championship: The Vietnamese women’s futsal team aims to secure a spot in the final tournament
According to the results of the qualifying draw for the 2025 AFC Women’s Futsal Championship just announced, the Vietnamese women’s futsal team is in Group D alongside Chinese Taipei, Macau, and Myanmar. With these opponents, Thanh Hằng and her teammates are expected to have many opportunities to advance to the finals.
Commenting on the draw results, head coach Nguyễn Đình Hoàng stated: “We are in a group with four teams. We will play fewer matches, which will help us maintain our fitness and intensity. The three teams in our group are all strong. Chinese Taipei is an opponent that the Vietnamese women’s futsal team recently faced in a friendly in Thailand, and they have quality players. However, we don’t have much information about the Macau women’s futsal team, while Myanmar will be the host nation, which will pose challenges for us. Overall, this is a somewhat favorable group, and we will have the opportunity to advance.”
According to the plan, the Vietnamese women’s futsal team will officially gather and begin training on October 17 in Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for their immediate goal: the Southeast Asian Women’s Futsal Championship, which will take place in Thailand from November 16 to 21. Sharing the team’s objectives, head coach Đình Hoàng stated: “The entire team is focused on preparing for the AFF Championship, with a longer-term plan to get ready for the Asian qualifiers in January 2025. The coaching staff is working to improve the team’s overall play, enhance the technical skills of each athlete, boost the team’s mental state, and increase the intensity and pace of our play. In the upcoming AFF Championship, we aim to achieve the highest possible ranking and compete for a spot in the finals of the Asian qualifiers.”
