Drawing ceremony of the 2024 Vietnam Women’s National Cup

On the afternoon of November 7th, the draw for the 2024 Vietnam Women’s National Cup was held at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

Representatives from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) attending the draw ceremony included Mrs. Nguyễn Thanh Hà – Deputy General Secretary and Head of the Organizing Committee of the tournament; Mr. Đỗ Văn Nhật – Member of the VFF Executive Committee and Head of the Women’s Football Department; Mr. Đào Huy Hùng – Member of the Women’s Football Department; representatives from VFF’s functional departments, representatives from the 7 teams participating in the tournament, and media representatives.

On behalf of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the tournament’s organizing committee, Mrs. Nguyễn Thanh Hà – Deputy General Secretary of VFF and Head of the Organizing Committee – spoke at the ceremony, stating that with the determination to invest in and develop a more effective women’s football system, as well as to increase opportunities for female players to compete and improve their skills, and for experts to have better conditions to select players for the national team, the VFF has made significant efforts over the past five years to maintain and develop the Vietnam Women’s National Cup.

Mrs. Nguyễn Thanh Hà also shared: “The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) always highly values and appreciates the support of the centers and women’s football clubs nationwide, who have worked together to help the Vietnam Women’s National Cup develop steadily. The VFF and the Organizing Committee sincerely thank the active support of the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center and the Thanh Trì District Department of Culture, Information, and Sports for their assistance in preparing for the tournament. We also appreciate the support of the fans and media organizations for women’s football in particular, and for the national football system in general.

The 2024 Vietnam Women’s National Cup features the participation of 7 teams, including: defending champions Than KSVN, defending runners-up Hà Nội I, Phong Phú Hà Nam, TP Hồ Chí Minh, Hà Nội II, Thái Nguyên T&T, and Sơn La. The 7 teams will be divided into two groups (one with 4 teams and one with 3 teams), competing in a round-robin format to accumulate points and determine rankings. The top two teams from each group will advance to compete for the championship, second place, third place, and fourth place. Meanwhile, the remaining three teams will play a round-robin to determine the rankings for fifth, sixth, and seventh place.

Based on the draw results, Group A consists of 4 teams: Hà Nội I, Phong Phú Hà Nam, TP Hồ Chí Minh, and Sơn La, while Group B will be a competition between 3 teams: Than KSVN, Hà Nội II, and Thái Nguyên T&T. The matches will take place at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center and Thanh Trì Stadium from November 28 to December 13. According to the draw, the three opening matchups on November 28 will be: Phong Phú Hà Nam vs TP Hồ Chí Minh, Hà Nội I vs Sơn La, and Than KSVN vs Hà Nội II.

Information about the tournament will be continuously updated by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on its website and social media platforms. Additionally, some key matches of the tournament will be selected for live broadcast on VFF’s media channels (VFF Channel, VFF Fanpage).
