FIFA announces the rankings for Q4 2024: Vietnam Women’s National Team maintains the number 1 spot in Southeast Asia
FIFA has announced the rankings for Q4 2024 for women’s football teams worldwide. Accordingly, the Vietnam Women’s National Team remains in 37th place globally, 6th in Asia with 1614.43 points, and continues to hold the top position in Southeast Asia.
Since the previous ranking announcement in August 2024, head coach Mai Đức Chung and his team have played two matches at the Yong Chuan International Women’s Football Tournament held in Chongqing, China. In this tournament, the Vietnam Women’s National Team defeated Uzbekistan 2-0 and lost to the China Women’s National Team 0-2, so their ranking remains unchanged.
In the FIFA Q4 2024 rankings for Southeast Asia, following Vietnam, the Philippines is ranked 41st, Thailand is 45th, and Myanmar is 55th. Notably, Indonesia has returned to the top 100, climbing 7 places to 94th. This improvement comes after the team secured a high position in the 2024 Southeast Asian Women’s Football Cup (the ASEAN Women’s Cup qualifiers), earning them additional ranking points. Meanwhile, the Laos Women’s National Team lost 34.86 points and dropped 16 spots in the rankings.
Globally, the United States Women’s National Team remains in first place with 2087.55 points. Following them are Spain, Germany, England, and Sweden. In Asia, the top rankings are led by Japan (1974.34 points, 8th in the world), North Korea (9th in the world, up 1 place compared to the previous ranking), Australia (15th in the world, down 3 places), China (17th in the world), and South Korea (20th in the world), all of which have moved up 1 spot compared to their previous rankings.
