Semifinalists determined at the 2025/26 National U19 Championship – Modern Cup
The semifinalists of the 2025/26 National U19 Championship – Modern Cup have been confirmed after a series of convincing wins.
In the first quarterfinal, Sông Lam Nghệ An faced Ho Chi Minh City, with no surprises taking place. In the 18th minute, Đình Bưởi committed a foul on Quang Linh inside the penalty area, earning Sông Lam Nghệ An a penalty. From the spot, Hoàng Minh Hợi calmly converted to open the scoring for the Nghe An side.
The second half saw Ho Chi Minh City make greater efforts, but the southern representatives lacked the necessary efficiency. In the 81st minute, Viết Duy produced an excellent solo run, beating two defenders before firing a precise shot to double the lead for Sông Lam Nghệ An. In the final minute of stoppage time, Viết Duy once again showed his composure with a fine piece of skill to seal a convincing 3–0 victory for Sông Lam Nghệ An.
Another title contender, Thể Công Viettel I, faced PVF in the quarterfinals. Despite being rated higher than their opponents, Thể Công Viettel I encountered significant difficulties in this match. The first 45 minutes ended without any goals.
In the second half, Thể Công Viettel I opted for a more direct approach, making greater use of aerial balls, which proved effective. In the 61st minute, team captain Hoàng Công Hậu rose high to head home from a cross delivered from the right flank, giving Thể Công Viettel I the opening goal. For the remainder of the match, PVF pushed forward in search of an equalizer but were unsuccessful and ultimately had to settle for a 0–1 defeat.
Meanwhile, Hà Nội faced Hồng Lĩnh Hà Tĩnh, a team known for their tough and awkward playing style. In the 30th minute, Nguyễn Thiên Phú finished clinically to give Hà Nội the lead, which proved to be the only goal of the match.
The final team to secure a place in the semifinals was U19 PVF-CAND, as the hosts prevailed in a dramatic penalty shootout against LPBank HAGL after the match ended level at the end of regular time.
