VFF Permanent Vice President Trần Quốc Tuấn attends and discusses at the meeting of AFC Emergency Management Committee.

Due to the situation of Covid-19 at ASEAN countries, the members of the AFF Emergency Management Committee discuss and identified that the Covid-19 pandemic will continue to have complicated developments from now until the end of the year. Therefore, the plan to organize the AFF Suzuki Cup 2020 is likely not guaranteed to be implemented as planned.

Based on the actual situation of the Covid-19 epidemic, with the goal of bringing a complete football atmosphere to the fans as well as ensuring the values of the tournament, the members of the Board discuss and propose a plan to move the AFF Suzuki Cup 2020 to organize in 2021. However, according to the opinion of the Standing Vice Chairman of VFF Tran Quoc Tuan at the meeting, 2021 is a very difficult year with a dense schedule of international tournaments. In addition to the AFC tournaments, there is the Tokyo Olympic, Euro (all to be held in 2021), CONCACAF …, so the suitable time for Southeast Asian countries to successfully organize AFF Suzuki is also a problem that raises many problems to be solved.

AFF Suzuki Cup may be delayed to 2021.

“Even though, with determination to maintain and successfully organize the most prestigious tournament in the region, the members of the Committee will continue to research and discuss to find the most optimal solution.”  Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan said.

The next online meeting of the AFF Emergency Management Committee will take place on July 30.
