China Women’s Team had to wait until the second period of extra time to break through Vietnam’s resilient defence and secure a narrow 1-0 victory, earning their place in the semi-finals. Following the match, on behalf of the Executive Committee and Standing Executive Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), VFF President Trần Quốc Tuấn praised and encouraged the Vietnam Women’s Team for their courageous and determined performance.

In their final Group E match of the women’s football tournament at the 2026 Asian Games, the Vietnam Women’s Team played out a 0-0 draw with Thailand. With this result, Vietnam secured a place in the quarter-finals of the women’s football tournament.

Vietnam’s women’s team showed great effort in the second half against the Chinese Taipei women’s team, with Thanh Nhã scoring to reduce the score to 1-2 in the 85th minute. Although they couldn’t find an equalizer in the remaining minutes, the positive performance in the second half will serve as a foundation for Coach Hoàng Văn Phúc’s team to prepare for the next two matches at ASIAD 2026.

The official draw for the women’s football tournament at the 2026 Asian Games, held on 23 July in Nagoya, Japan, handed the Vietnam women’s national team a challenging group-stage assignment. Head coach Hoàng Văn Phúc and his players were drawn into Group A alongside hosts Japan, Chinese Taipei, and Thailand.
