Coach Hua Hien Vinh: “U19 Vietnam is ready to enter the competition”
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the ASEAN U19 Championship 2024 on the afternoon of July 17, Head Coach Hua Hien Vinh stated that U19 Vietnam is ready to compete and will strive for the best results possible.
Coach Hua Hien Vinh said, “U19 Vietnam has completed the preparation phase and is ready to enter the upcoming ASEAN U19 Championship. I believe that not only U19 Vietnam but all teams participating in this tournament share the common goal of winning. Additionally, we want to learn more about the playing styles of other teams, especially strong teams like Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia. We will strive in every match and endeavor to achieve the best results.”
To prepare for the ASEAN U19 Championship 2024, U19 Vietnam underwent meticulous preparation, including a quality trial at the U19 International Tournament in China, followed by an intensive training phase at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. They then moved to Ho Chi Minh City to acclimatize to weather conditions similar to those expected in Indonesia. Consequently, Coach Hua Hien Vinh is very confident in the team’s abilities.
“Currently, the young players of U19 Vietnam are ready to compete and eager to showcase what they have trained for,” Coach Hua Hien Vinh expressed. “The coaching staff hopes that the players will deliver their best possible performances at the tournament.”
During a media event on the morning of July 17th, midfielder Thai Ba Dat expressed his confidence ahead of the upcoming tournament. Known for his extensive international playing experience, including being a member of the victorious U23 Vietnam at the 2023 AFF U23 Championship, Thai Ba Dat is one of the most seasoned players in the U19 Vietnam squad.
Sharing his emotions about representing U19 Vietnam at the 2024 ASEAN U19 Championship, Thai Ba Dat said, “For me, playing in this tournament with U19 Vietnam is a great honor and I feel as excited as the first time. I don’t feel any pressure at all; on the contrary, I am very eager to enter the tournament and achieve our goals with the whole team.”
When asked about Vietnam U19’s adaptation to the hot weather conditions in Indonesia, Thai Ba Dat likened it to Ho Chi Minh City’s climate. He acknowledged that if there were difficulties, they would be challenges faced by all teams. The entire team has mentally prepared to overcome these challenges.
At the 2024 ASEAN U19 Championship, U19 Vietnam is placed in Group B alongside U19 Myanmar, U19 Australia, and U19 Laos. Among these opponents, U19 Australia is considered the strongest and a contender for the championship title. However, according to Thai Ba Dat’s assessment, the chances are evenly distributed among all teams, and victory will belong to the team that has prepared the best.
“Personally, I’m not worried about Australia. They are a strong team, but U19 Vietnam is also a team that others should not underestimate. At the moment, I don’t feel any fear or anxiety. My feeling is that I want the tournament to start sooner, even right now, so that the whole team can demonstrate our capabilities and the preparedness we’ve achieved,” Thai Ba Dat remarked confidently.
