Expanding the number of teams participating in the 2024 National Women’s U16 Championship
There will be 5 teams participating in the 2024 National Women’s U16 Football Championship, taking place at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center from June 27 to July 24, 2024.
This year’s tournament features 5 teams: Than Khoáng Sản Vietnam, Phong Phú Hà Nam, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Thái Nguyên T&T. Than Khoáng Sản Vietnam is a new name in the U16 women’s championship. It is known that this mining region team has been preparing well in terms of squad strength and is ready to take on the challenge.
The 5 teams will compete in a round-robin format with each team playing each other twice (home and away), and rankings will be determined by total points accumulated. In the 2023 season, Phong Phú Hà Nam claimed the championship, with Hanoi finishing as the runner-up, and Thái Nguyên T&T securing third place.
The tournament will be held at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center from June 27 to July 24, featuring 10 matches. The champion team will receive a prize of 100,000,000 VND, while the second and third place teams will receive 80,000,000 VND and 50,000,000 VND respectively.
All teams participating in the tournament have an equal opportunity to compete for the championship title. In women’s football, the difference in skill level between teams is not significant. Many matches are expected to be exciting, dramatic, and will attract attention from fans.
The 2024 National Women’s U16 Football Championship, organized by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), is part of the women’s football tournament system. This tournament provides young players with the opportunity to gain experience, sharpen their skills, and accumulate knowledge. It serves as a platform where talented athletes can progress to the U18 and U19 national teams and eventually compete in the national women’s league. Consequently, the Vietnam women’s national team gains more options to prepare for future international tournaments.
