Hanoi defends their title at the 2025 National U16 Women’s Football Championship
A valuable 2-1 victory over Phong Phu Ha Nam helped Hanoi successfully defend their crown at the 2025 National U16 Women’s Football Championship.
The clash between Phong Phu Ha Nam and Hanoi was considered the final of the 2025 National U16 Women’s Football Championship. Phong Phu Ha Nam had a two-point advantage and only needed a draw to clinch the title. In contrast, Hanoi entered the match with strong determination to win and successfully defend their championship.
It was Hanoi who struck first. In the 12th minute, from a clever free-kick by Bao Yen, Ha Yen Nhi made a perfectly timed run and headed the ball into the net to open the scoring. The Phong Phu Ha Nam goalkeeper misjudged the situation, making a crucial error that allowed Hanoi to capitalize.
However, the reigning champions couldn’t hold onto their lead for long. In the 24th minute, Hanoi’s goalkeeper made a similar mistake. From a free-kick delivered by Linh Chi, Minh Anh pounced on the loose ball after the keeper failed to catch it cleanly, slotting it home from close range to level the match at 1-1.
In the 55th minute, Thanh Lam made a determined cross from the right wing. Goalkeeper Phuong Thao of Phong Phu Ha Nam failed to clear the ball, allowing Thu Phuong to fire into an empty net and seal a 2-1 victory for the team in white. With this result, Hanoi were crowned champions once again.
In the other match of the tournament, Ho Chi Minh City had already secured third place, holding a four-point lead over Son La. Nevertheless, the southern representative remained determined to finish on a high note. After a somewhat stagnant first half, HCMC improved their performance in the second half and sealed a 2-0 victory.
