HCMC I lifts to the championship of Women’s National Cup 2022
Ho Chi Minh City I won a dramatic victory after a penalty shootout against Hanoi I in the final of the 2022 Women’s National Cup.
As expected, the final match of the 2022 Women’s National Cup was a match between Ho Chi Minh City I and Hanoi I. HCMC I did not have midfielder Chuong Thi Kieu. However, this absence did not make the strength of Ho Chi Minh City I decrease too much. Head coach Doan Thi Kim Chi’s team still maintained a strong attack right after the opening whistle. In just the first 5 minutes, HCMC I had 2 dangerous chances but they could not score.
In contrast, Hanoi I also played tit-for-tat against a very strong opponent. Van Su, Bui Thi Trang or Hai Yen could perform many counter-attacks at high speed. The first 45 minutes, although extremely exciting, lacked a goal. Strikers of the national team such as Hai Yen, Van Su, Huynh Nhu, etc., all missed their own opportunities. Efficiency and accuracy in the final shoot were what the two teams lack.
Moving to the second half, HCMC I is still the better team with many impressive attacking pieces. But similar to the first half, Huynh Nhu and her teammates missed opportunities. Hanoi I must be regret when many times they played impressively and thought they could beat the opponent.
The two teams were forced to enter the penalty shootout to find the champion of this year’s tournament. Right in the first kick, Thanh Huyen’s penalty kick on Hanoi side I was saved by Kim Thanh. In the rest of the shots, all other players of both teams were successful. In the end, Ho Chi Minh City I defeated Hanoi I after a penalty shootout with a score of 5-4 and won the Women’s National Cup 2022.
