Head coach Mai Duc Chung: Football is overcome the challenge
Speaking at a press conference before the group stage of the SEA Games 32, head coach of the Vietnam women’s team Mai Duc Chung thanked the host country and organizers for the warm welcome from the first days of arriving in Cambodia. Coach Mai Duc Chung also affirmed that although the weather here is quite hot, the Vietnam women’s team will make efforts to adapt and play well.
Answering a question about the difficulties of changing the weather from Japan to Cambodia, coach Mai Duc Chung said: “We have been to Japan many times to train before other tournaments, not just at the SEA Games. In Japan we have many good opponents to play friendly matches, in addition, the favor weather in Japan helps us practice and improve our physical strength. Besides, in Japan, the standard of food, field and living are also very good for athletes’ fitness. The weather in Cambodia is hot but not only for the Vietnam women’s team but also for all teams. In football, all teams need to overcome difficulties to achieve success.”
Assessing the opponents in the same group, the head coach of the Vietnam women’s team shared: “In our group at this SEA Games, the teams are very strong. We respect them. I see that Southeast Asian women’s football is growing day by day, countries are investing more in women’s football. So we know that we need to work hard every game.”
Previously, at the match coordination meeting, the teams confirmed the final list of matches at SEA Games 32. Accordingly, player Chuong Thi Kieu will not be on the final registration list at SEA Games 32 but will continue to stay and practice recovery to maintain the best condition for the next tournament. In order to minimize injuries and enhance recovery efficiency, during the competition in Cambodia, the Vietnam women’s team had the participation of a specialist rehabilitation doctor from VINMEC hospital. Chuong Thi Kieu will also continue to stay in Cambodia to practice under the coordination of doctors and the coaching staffs.
