National Women’s U16 Championship and National Cup Women’s Cup kick-off the Vietnamese women’s football season 2023
In the period between February and early March, 2023, the National U16 Women’s Football Championship and the 2023 National Cup Women’s Football will take place. These will be the opening two tournaments for a busy 2023 of Vietnamese women’s football.
Attending the drawing ceremony and scheduling the matches for the National U16 Women’s Football Championship and the 2023 National Cup Women’s Football were Mr. Do Van Nhat – Member of the VFF Executive Committee, Chairman of the Women’s Football Committee; Mr. Tran Huy Duc – Member of the VFF Executive Committee; Mr. Tran Anh Minh – Member of the VFF Executive Committee; Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi – VFF General Secretary; Mr. Bui Dinh Te – Chairman of the Members’ Council of Thai Son Bac Electrical Equipment Trading Co., Ltd – Sponsoring partner of VFF; representatives of organisation committee’s members; representatives of the hosts, functional departments of the VFF; representatives of women’s football clubs and press.
VFF General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi assessed: “2023 is a very busy year for Vietnamese women’s football. The opening ceremony will be the National U16 Women’s Championship and the 2023 Women’s National Cup. After that, the Vietnamese women’s team will focus on the SEA Games, FIFA Women’s World Cup, ASIAD, Olympic qualifiers, etc. before the national women’s championship is conducted at the end of the year. Women’s football clubs also pay great attention to the registration procedures for domestic and Vietnamese-foreign players, ensuring that they have a good source of players, good in expertise, according to the procedures prescribed by the VFF”.
The National U16 Women’s Football Championship will be held from February 17 to March 5 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. The participating teams include Phong Ha Nam, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Thai Nguyen T&T, competing in 2 round-robin to calculate the ranking points. On the opening day (February 17), U16 Phong Phu Ha Nam met Hanoi U16 while U16 Ho Chi Minh City faced U16 Thai Nguyen T&T.
The women’s national cup will be held from February 14 to March 1 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center and Thanh Tri Stadium. Seven teams are divided into 2 groups, competing in a round-robin to find the first and second teams to enter the semi-finals; The remaining 3 teams will compete in a round-robin with the ranking of 5,6,7.
According to the draw results, in Group A, the defending champion Ho Chi Minh City is in the same group with Than KSVN, Thai Nguyen T&T, Hanoi II. Meanwhile, Group B is the competition of Hanoi I, Phong Phu Ha Nam, Son La teams. The opening match will take place at 16:15 on February 14, between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi II.
