Qualifiers – Group A: Guam 2-2 Bangladesh; Bhutan 0-5 Vietnam

Hai Phong: Vietnam kicked off their AFC U20 Asian Cup™ China 2025 Qualifiers Group A campaign with a resounding 5-0 win over Bhutan at the Lach Tray Stadium on Monday.

Vietnam took the lead in the seventh minute after Hoang Minh Tien sent a through ball to Nguyen Le Phat, who forced a save from Bhutan keeper Lhocho Nima, only for the rebound to fall kindly for Nguyen Bao Long who struck home a grounded effort.
Nguyen Dang Duong doubled Vietnam’s lead in the 52nd minute after collecting Nguyen Cong Phuong through ball before rounding Nima to slot home into an unattended goalmouth.
Vietnam added the third through an individual effort from Nguyen Cong Phuong, the midfielder dispossessing Kinzang Tobden in his own half before beating the advancing Nima.
Nguyen Huu Tuan scored Vietnam’s fourth with a glancing header off Le Dinh Long Vu’s cross in the 78th minute before Nguyen Cong Phuong capped off a fine evening for the Southeast Asian side with a curling effort in the 90th minute.
Guam 2-2 Bangladesh
Bangladesh came into the tie eager to bounce back from their 4-0 defeat to Syria on the opening day, while Guam drew 1-1 against Bhutan.
The South Asian side  had the better start with Mirajul Islam finding the back of the net in the sixth minute to take a 1-0 lead going into the break.
Guam fought back in the second half and responded through Shuntaro Suzuki’s penalty in the 75th minute before Bangladesh regained the lead in the the 87th minute following substitute Moinul Islam’s effort.
However, Guam showed their resilience to equalise for the second time with forward Curtis Harmon netting a minute into added time to force the stalemate.
