On the evening of December 21st, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính attended the match between the Vietnam national football team and Myanmar at the Viet Tri Stadium in Phu Tho. After the game, the Prime Minister went down to the field to join in the celebration and congratulate the victory of the Vietnam team. He praised coach Kim Sang Sik and his players for their outstanding achievement in securing a spot in the semifinals of the 2024 ASEAN Football Championship by winning Group B.

In the match against Myanmar, the Vietnam national football team displayed excellent form and a strong, determined spirit, defeating Myanmar with a dominant 5-0 scoreline. Forward Nguyễn Xuân Son made a strong impression in his first appearance for the national team, scoring a brace. The other three goals were scored by Bùi Vĩ Hào, Nguyễn Quang Hải, and Nguyễn Tiến Linh. This victory not only secured the team a spot in the semifinals but also helped build great confidence among fans in the journey to reaffirm Vietnam’s position in regional football.

According to the schedule, as the winners of Group B, the Vietnam national football team will face the runners-up of Group A, Singapore, in the semifinals. The first leg will be held at the Jalan Besar artificial turf stadium on December 26th, while the second leg will take place at the Viet Tri Stadium on December 29th.
