Vietnam Men’s Futsal team won the Bronze Medal of SEA Games 31
Playing hard, but Vietnam Men’s futsal team could not win points against Thailand futsal team and accept the bronze medal in men’s futsal at SEA Games 31.
Under pressure to win, the Thailand futsal team rushed to attack right after the opening whistle in the match against Vietnam futsal team. They soon got what they needed with the opening goal, Osamanmusa launched a decisive cross-angle shot and knocked down goalkeeper Ho Van Y to bring the advantage to the away-team. This goal made the calculation of the Vietnamese futsal team to change. The red shirt team tried to control the ball more and organize many attackings. However, the Thailand futsal team showed danger when Peerapat hit the ball dangerously to increase the score to 2-0 in the 10th minute. At the end of the first half, Vietnam futsal team played hard but could not get an equalizer.
Entering the second half, the tempo of the match continued to be pushed up. Vietnam futsal team seems to have regained their confidence and can hold the ball against Thailand futsal team. We created many dangerous opportunities but the players were unlucky in the last step to get a goal. In the last 6 minutes, Vietnam futsal team applied a power-play strategy and pushed Thailand’s futsal team back deep into the home field. But that effort is not enough for us to win back 1 point from the opponent. Thus, the Vietnamese futsal team won the bronze medal in the men’s futsal at the 31st SEA Games.
After the match, coach Pham Minh Giang said: “We didn’t play confidently in the first half, we improved our mentality at the break and played well in the second half. Unfortunately, there were no goals so the players didn’t have good psychological momentum. In the second half they can play with confidence, but in the first half they couldn’t do this. I think Thailand is really a stronger team, much more collision and braver.”
Winning the gold medal, the head coach of the Thailand futsal team, Mr. Carlos Cesar, said: “I am really happy, for the Thai people, this is a very important match. I am happy for the players and have been together for the past three months. The Vietnamese team has a problem in the attack stage. My players were able to experience how different it feels to play in a final.”
