Vietnam U16 futsal defeat Myanmar 5–2, boosting their chances of reaching the final of the 2025 AFF U16 Futsal Championship
Regaining control shortly after falling behind, the Vietnam U16 futsal team displayed composure and an effective style of play to defeat Myanmar U16 futsal 5–2 in their second match at the 2025 AFF U16 Futsal Championship, thereby gaining positive momentum ahead of their encounter with host nation Thailand.
On the afternoon of December 25, the Vietnam U16 futsal team played their second match of the tournament against Myanmar U16 futsal. Coach Trịnh Hữu Thành’s side started proactively and soon turned their advantage into the opening goal in the 5th minute, scored by Như Hoàng. However, just a few minutes later, Myanmar U16 futsal mounted a strong comeback and netted two quick goals in the 9th and 10th minutes, both scored by Nay Lin Phyo, to take a 2–1 lead.
Facing an unfavourable situation, Vietnam U16 futsal quickly adjusted their approach, stepped up ball possession and increased the tempo of their attacks. In the 11th minute, Bá Mạnh unleashed a dangerous long-range strike to restore parity. The momentum continued as Như Hoàng and Văn Nghĩa found the net in the 12th and 16th minutes respectively, allowing Vietnam U16 futsal to go into the break with a 4–2 advantage.
In the second half, Vietnam U16 futsal maintained control of the game, defending solidly and executing their attacking plays with clarity. In the 33rd minute, from a swift counter-attack, Văn Phát finished accurately to seal a 5–2 victory for the team in red.
With this result, Vietnam U16 futsal secured another important win to strengthen their position in the race for a place in the final. According to the schedule, on the afternoon of December 26, Coach Trịnh Hữu Thành’s players will face host nation Thailand—a challenge expected to be very tough. Nevertheless, the team have shown confidence and determination in their pursuit of a positive result, aiming to further enhance their chances of reaching the tournament’s final match.
