Vietnam U16 futsal lost to Myanmar in the third-place playoff of the 2025 ASEAN U16 Futsal Championship

Having once come from behind to defeat the same opponent in the group stage, Vietnam U16 futsal were unable to repeat that scenario as they suffered a 1–2 defeat to Myanmar U16 futsal in the third-place playoff of the 2025 ASEAN U16 Futsal Championship.

Entering the rematch, Myanmar U16 futsal got off to a stronger start and quickly took the lead with the opening goal in the 7th minute. In the second half, they continued to maintain a solid shape and added another goal in the 26th minute to extend the lead to 2–0. Trailing behind, Vietnam U16 futsal pushed higher up the court in search of a comeback, but a lack of efficiency in finishing remained an issue.

Vietnam U16 futsal’s efforts were only rewarded with a late goal in the 29th minute, scored by Gia Bảo, to reduce the deficit to 1–2. In the remaining minutes, head coach Trịnh Hữu Thành’s players showed great determination, but rushed decision-making in the final moments prevented them from finding an equalizer.

The match ended with a 2–1 victory for Myanmar U16 futsal, securing them the bronze medal at the 2025 ASEAN U16 Futsal Championship. Meanwhile, Vietnam U16 futsal finished the tournament in fourth place — a result that fell short of initial expectations, but still provided valuable lessons and experience for the continued development of this young generation of players.

In the final, Indonesia U16 defeated hosts Thailand U16 4–3 to be crowned champions.
