Despite no longer being in control of their fate in the medal race, head coach Diego Giustozzi’s players still showed strong determination and commitment. Vietnam proactively pushed their defensive line higher and applied constant pressing in search of an early goal. However, this approach also left them vulnerable on several occasions to Myanmar’s fast and sharp counter-attacks. The first half was evenly contested and ended goalless.

After the break, Vietnam increased the tempo right from the start and made the breakthrough in the 25th minute. Capitalising on a skilful move inside the penalty area, Da Hai finished decisively to open the scoring for Vietnam. Myanmar responded quickly, equalising at 1–1 in the 32nd minute.

Nevertheless, the Vietnamese futsal team did not allow their opponents to take control. Da Hai continued his impressive performance with a stunning volley to restore Vietnam’s lead at 2–1, before Cong Dai and Ngoc Anh found the net in succession, extending the advantage and sealing a 4–2 victory.

With this result, the chances of competing for the bronze medal for coach Diego Giustozzi’s side are very slim due to an inferior goal difference compared to Indonesia, who will play their final match against Thailand at 7:00 p.m. on the same day.

It is hoped that the experiences gained at the SEA Games will serve as valuable lessons for the team as they look ahead to the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 finals, scheduled to take place in Indonesia from January 27 to February 7, 2026.
