Head of the Asian Cup 2023 Organizing Committee in Qatar was impressed with the opening match of the Vietnam team
On January 15, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Asian Cup 2023 Qatar, Mr. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, visited the “headquarters” of the Vietnam team. Receiving and working with Mr. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, on the side of VFF, there were Mr. Tran Anh Tu – VFF’s Vice President, Head of the Vietnamese Team Delegation and Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi – VFF’s General Secretary, team manager at the 2023 Asian Cup.
At the meeting, on behalf of the VFF’s Standing Committee, Vice President Tran Anh Tu thanked Mr. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani and the host country’s organizers for giving a respectful welcome to the Vietnam team. Mr.Tran Anh Tu said, “Since arriving Qatar, the team has always received support and facilitation from the Qatar Football Association in particular and the Asian Cup 2023 Organizing Committee in general. When we came here to participate in Asia’s biggest tournament, we felt very honored and extremely impressed by the thoughtfulness of the host country.”
VFF’s Vice President Tran Anh Tu also expressed his admiration for the scale and methodical organization of Qatar, the country that successfully organized the world’s largest tournament – World Cup 2022, currently organize the Asia’s pinnacle arena – Asian Cup 2023 and followed by the U23 Asian Cup 2024. Mr. Tran Anh Tu assessed that Asian football is gradually approaching the pace of development of world football, in Qatar is one of the typical examples. Vietnamese football is also trying to keep up with that progress.
On behalf of the organizing committee of the Asian Cup 2023 Qatar, Mr. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani expressed his joy and pride when Qatar was chosen as the destination of world-class and continental tournaments. Mr. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani affirmed that, as the host country of the 2023 Asian Cup, Qatar always strives to ensure that all teams are served in the best way. As for the Vietnam team, Mr. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani was especially impressed with the performance of coach Philippe Troussier’s team in the opening match against strong opponent Japan. Mr. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani shared that he knew that the Vietnam team had difficulty in terms of force when many players were injured before traveling to Qatar. Despite playing with many young players in the squad, the Vietnam team created a great match at Al Thumama Stadium. From the excellent performance of the young players, Mr. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani believes that Vietnam will not only continue to advance at the 2023 Asian Cup but also become a formidable team at the U23 Asian Cup 2024 next April.
Same day, VFF’s Vice President Tran Anh Tu and General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi met and encouraged the team. Mr. Tran Anh Tu, on behalf of the VFF’s Standing Committee, praised the team’s playing spirit in the recent match against Japan. Although the result could not be surprising against championship candidate Japan, the team’s performance was very convincing and received many compliments from many fans. However, the match with Japan is just the beginning, a journey with many challenges still awaits. The leaders of VFF asked the team to control their emotions and devote maximum focus to the remaining two matches in the group stage, including the decisive match against Indonesia, taking place on January 19.
