Three consecutive defeats have made it a painful outing for the Vietnamese side who had hoped to make a mark on the continental stage.
Wuhan revived their knockout stage hopes with a 2-1 win over Hanoi two weeks ago but know they have a lot to do it they are to progress.
It gets tougher for them after the Hanoi tie, with defending champions Urawa Red Diamonds of Japan and Pohang to contend with.
